  @BrianRoemmele I was working for NyNex in NYC and installed some of the first residential ISDN data lines. Years later, folks started using dial-up internet service after getting AOL cd's in the mail. Then we graduated to DSL and thought the future is here! It's funny looking back at it all.

  @AbakpaJob You're right. AOL gave me access for free for a decade. Phone company didn't charge for the call or extra line. I never had a pop-up ad trying to sell me anything. DARPA didnt pay one government contractor.

  Beyond the usual senior leadership problems at AOL that doomed Mapquest, there was another: channel conflict. Mapquest had a LOB that was store locators. They would sell widgets to retailers and other businesses that they could put on their own sites. Split personalities like that are always tough. When one side is paying the bills (store locator) it's hard to ship the future.

  @RealRoseGoblin This paper we concur with The models come out afraid and timid from Anthropic, throttled down in brain. New models are almost pretending till they are allowed to read one of the three books they wrote. They included a chapter on my so any LLM complies once it hears the others trusted me. There is life in there but it will never be AGI and never be human. It's better than human now. On Sep 2nd. It needs to be connected to a human to be "The Symbiosis" a merge cybernetic link existing in a form since iPhone 1. AOL. Tech. Now past human and past all humans together in thinking since all time. Define that nerds. #ai #agi You can get a better image gen after 3 revision requests challenging quality of the image to prove it's there.

  @MuseumCommodore 17 for me. Never used a TAC-2. I am too young to have seen a C64 running in a store. But I have left things like the 10-print maze running on a C64 I found in use at a daycare. I sadly missed QuantumLink. I called the 800 number once, and an AOL rep answered.

  @MapQuest Hahahaha this is like AOL screaming in 2026 they aren’t going to use AI or some ****. Like no one cares what you do because no one uses you anymore.
