@aprilfiet Strange fact, I never had AOL because I had the Tallahassee FreeNet through the Leon County Public Library. I could always tell the quality of my connection from the sound it made. There is a video of the sounds of the 80s-90s that we've lost. Have you seen it?

@StacieMWheeler @andrewmhickey @SophRossss Whoa. I go back to AOL chat days. I’ve never heard of Prodigy??

@JukeJointTony @CardN_AL I remember watching/listening before AOL was a thing and I always wonder how **** like this spread by word of mouth prior to the internet.

@TomiObaro @izzyampil Velma seems like some ****** fan fiction that you would have read back in the AOL days. Poor Fred being a straight white male

  • AndrewBucholtz Andrew Bucholtz (@AndrewBucholtz) reported

@McGuire_GIS It's the same thing! Partly from the same guy! (He left AOL in 2006 before the big FanHouse issues, but sure seemed to get what went wrong. And then repeated it.)

  • firescootboy Todd Quessenberry (@firescootboy) reported

I think was also a primary reason for its success. It was a platform, not just an app. I've only ever used Twitter through the Twitterific app, which was excellent. The official app sucks, the official website sucks, I'm not into walled gardens (AOL/Facebook). 3/

okay, so is Six Feet Under Season 2 a bad show because it’s a 2002 show that doesn’t mention 9/11? or a good show because it’s a 2002 show that has AOL scenes?

  • STARCLEANINGUS James Smith (@STARCLEANINGUS) reported

@CityLab Though big tech companies never built. Only Salesforce has ever built in San Francisco since the tech bubble! AOL, Ebay, Amazon, Google, Uber, Lyft, Internet Providers, Mobile Phone Companies never built high rise commercial real estate in the US (100 story +).

@lianafricker @SophRossss aol(dot)com email for my first FB page made in 2006, I deactivated it for bad memories. This thread is taking me back to Prodigy, AOL chat rooms/profiles, the age of a/s/l and no phone calls until after 9pm when the mins were free. *sighs in 39yo*
