AOL Issues Reports

Latest outage, problems and issue reports in social media:

  • FulfordMalcolm Malcolm McMahon (@FulfordMalcolm) reported from Fulford, England

@Meidas_Samantha I was using the social media of the time around 1980. Usenet news. Back then the Internet was created by geeks for geeks. Using it was, in itself, an intelligence test which kept the level of debate up. Then the suits found it and AOL made it easy and the tone went way down.

  • brandonq320 Brandon Quick (@brandonq320) reported

    @incrediblebob12 @Myspace @AOL Damn, y’all making me feel old.

  • coyotegoth Fred B. Smith (@coyotegoth) reported

Right about now, 45 is bellowing, "What do you mean, they shut down AOL instant messenger?"it

  • Nate_pyon Brogle 🥦 (@Nate_pyon) reported

My Mom was so annoyed at them shutting off the internet service for everyone without warning because of something as simple as her 10 year old saying "***" online she was more mad at AOL than me and I got off the hook

  • patriot15226 PGHPatriot15226 (@patriot15226) reported

@NautPoso @Chewbacca20001 If either worked well I could tell you. GAB is not working at all while Parler is like AOL.

  • msilver300 SilverStriker (@msilver300) reported

@Maximus_4EVR I hope he got the free plan not the high pay plan. Some aol users (like me) keep it no matter what. Over the years aol has offered free platform but some people in fear of it not working as it once did, still pay $24.95 a month.. My boss for one.

  • drewhastings Drew Hastings (@drewhastings) reported

With all the people fleeing twitter and FB, somewhere the CEO of AOL is calling the tech guy at home, saying, "Holy ****! Start the servers back up - we might have another shot at this!"

  • KalElDuggan Kyle Duggan (@KalElDuggan) reported

I know what it's like to lose my First Amendment rights. In June 1999, I was banned from an AOL Kids chatroom for saying, "crap." You just can't understand it until it happens to you.

  • sunstarsys SunStar Systems (@sunstarsys) reported

@HappyBuddha19 @eshaLegal We were just trying to socialize and create intellectual value for us and our peers, not do homework for the lazy sobs every other ISP threw into the mix after AOL led the way. People just said **** on Usenet at that point not for topicality, but solely for audience reach.

  • LilFootandBobo Bobo Prime (@LilFootandBobo) reported

@cmclymer I **** you not the bastards are finding a way to grift off of those AOL CD’s; and someone is now selling him the idea of an anti-maskers LAN Party.
