Any 2010 Tech Nostalgia? Working on Privateer. I started this one - at least put it into Google Docs... In 2010. MUCH has changed since this, technology-wise. I mentioned certain Tech Things by name that described those tech things in some detail. The problem is all of that stuff - ALL OF IT - is painfully outdated. AOL. Skype. Blackberry. Hotel Phone Calls. Adobe Flash. Now, I COULD keep all this stuff and keep Privateer a period piece, but I don't think anyone is waxing nostalgic about 2010 Tech Trends.

@JustJJSC they realized CONTENT is king back when AOL bought Time Waner. Some were slow to adapt, but Comcast bought NBC/Universal, Disney bought ABC, CBS bought Paramount/or vice versa, and a few new were created, netflix, az prime, to make content. The said FU. added commercials.

@BadfishRanch @BlueFlameBlues As someone who was nearing 30 in the mid-2000s when started I had never had an AOL account before. Blew my mind that all my counterparty interactions were using that platform. No ICE chat then too but you could message anyone in the bid stack which is bonkers to think about too

@AOL When you make it a pain in the *** to log in on a PC/laptop, we don't bother because AOL is already open on the phone Then we don't see your advertisements BY YOUR ADVERTISERS No reason to send me a code or to force me log into another email Are you idiots or just stupid?

@theswansjr HTTP protocol isn't "open network", its actually a very controlled network Compare bitcoin to AOL, not to the internet

@yukiwaru_ Yeah, but this is kinda like cancelling AOL or Sirius XM. You call up enraged by something stupid, and by the end of the call you somehow have 3 free months and forgot why you called in the first place. That kind of "cancelled", i think.

@petty_marshall Chatting on AOL/Yahoo in the early 2000s was funny, cause my closer was "Oh yeah, I'm 6'3". It never scared chicks away lol
