@bette_oh reminds me of AOL/Online, AOL Chatroom days.. i knew a few gals, who had constant, vicious harassment from usually some guy or guys, they refused to respond to, and would be driven to tears with constant personal attacks. seems the medium has changed but not the *******.

@Jeromobot Is there a momentum argument in favour of FB (which I am not on, FWIW) having greater longevity? It has been going for 18 years and has a couple of billion users. AOL & c/serve never reached that scale. While it generates $, I suspect it will live on...

@Anastacya_99 I used a lot of AOL discs. Took forever to get even DSL where I am. Verizon never laid fiber in my town and got stuck with Comcast.

Companies that find product-market fit at scale are hard to "kill" even by poor mgmt = it's like sailing in high winds = it takes a lot to NOT make forward progress = one gets multiple shots on goal to make it right = best e.g. over the yrs MSFT, YHOO, AOL, INTC but many others.
