Hail all the streaming platforms whose entire business model is to get ppl signed up for a free trial to watch the one movie that isn’t available elsewhere, and then continue to bill the 57% of people who forget to cancel. Congratulations, y’all are the AOL of the 21st Century.

@candyriot_ @bat_cuntry @Bello7atwinkie Holy **** AOL. I must admit I engaged with a lot of strangers when I was younger (Habbo Hotel) but I don't think I was ever that involved with the fandom that I ruined other people's fun!

@SamtheNightOwl @fingerbIaster @DisneyCumBlast i was teenager on AOL way back when and i have a distinct memory of posting in some forum that i thought astrology was stupid and some longtime regular quit over it. EVEN I WAS LIKE "i'm a teenager why the hell does my opinion matter to you so much" lmao

@stillgray @ArizonaDMK AOL was the peak fun times for Trojans for myself.. Would download a “pr0g” to annoy a chat room with ASCII pics of like flipping the bird but in reality.. Nothing like being 13 and downloading them and watching your Dad lose his mind trying to remove the damn thing

My mind can’t compute that AOL already had IMing in 1994, a year after they started their service, lol. I personally got my first email and used the internet at home in 1997, lol. #FearStreet1994

@voinageo @CubicleApril @Twitter AOL. I constantly ask myself "ok, is it faster to look for it in my own code, search in my zimwiki or 'JustGoogleIt'?". Reinventing the wheel is, as everyone else is saying, silly bordering on stupid.

@drguthals That’s awesome - was it AIM or full on AOL? Similarly, my wife and I originally met on the Prodigy service - early discussions were all email because long distance calls still cost money back then. :/

@Mechelestar @TylerScott9412 @NetflixFilm Let me put it into perspective, if you owned a PC and had Internet in 1994, you were rich as ****. And once again I truly don’t believe AOL chat rooms were a thing that early. Chat rooms didn’t really take off until the late 90’s
