Even at the height of the Attitude Era wrestling was still looked down upon even with star athletes Kevin Greene, Dennis Rodman & Karl Malone headlining ppvs. Hardcore wrestling fans used to ***** in AOL chatrooms and Delphi Forums about celeb involvement.   Such a weird time discussing AI with anyone who isn't super in the weeds right now. 99.9% of people who have been exposed to AI only know "chat", which in my experience is the worst current use case for AI (can be inaccurate, biased, too sycophantic, etc). Meanwhile, the 0.1% actually building **** (be it apps, businesses, websites, dashboards, slide decks, business plans, etc) or using it to help organize your life (translating "stream of consciousness" into readable notes, managing your inbox/calendar, creating a second-brain wiki from links, etc) is seeing where this is all going. Big difference is that the user (YOU!) have direct input on the outputs, whereas chat is just the delusion that you are getting correct answers from some digital deity (just a text version of brain rot, imo). It makes having conversations super weird, like explaining the potential of the internet to someone who only logged on to AOL to read/send email.

  @SwarupChattrjee @ArtofLiving On the contrary, AOL has rejuvenated numerous rivers, thousands of lakes, billions of trees. The people who caused the 10 year trouble needs to be penalized.

  @Irina_exh 18 for sure, Aunt had a waterbed. I tried it, it was terrible, and I never used an AOL address. I was a yahoo guy. Still have it. I did, however, use those cds that gave you internet time.

  @pizzahut I really don’t know how a powerhouse corporation loses its standing. Cutting costs on supplies, overextending locations, hiring a new ad company, promotional programs that managers can’t really work- but Pizza Hut is following the pathway of Toys R Us, Blockbuster and AOL. I’m going to avoid my usual florid word choices and just tell you, I paid almost $70.00 for a recent delivery. It was 45 minutes late. The Food was room temperature. 2 Cold drinks were missing. And a dessert item was doubled. BTW can anyone tell me what a delivery cost is? And why would the drivers tip default to 18%? Tips are to insure promptness. It didn’t work this time. The driver was not really an employee, she was hired on by another company and could offer no explanation except - “This is what they gave me.” Along with, “Sorry it’s late.” And, “You can go on the website and let them know”. Going back on that wonky website is the last thing I wanted to do, I’d almost rather eat room temperature food and apologize to my buddies for the poor culinary turn out. I called the store, but no one would talk to me ( it just rang ) so here I am letting all you fine people in cyber space know about it. A loss of quality control is sometimes accidental, but I also think it’s because the employees really don’t care. I’d guess further that the employees don’t care because they think their bosses don’t care.

  There’s a white paper to be written on this. I was a beneficiary of IDA Ireland when I started at AOL in a portacabin with 20 people in Tallaght, before AOL became the second company after Oracle to open an office in East Point. So I’m thankful because it gave me a solid foundation for my career. Ireland’s reliance on US tech companies is now a massive problem. They now have significant leverage with government. AI data centres is probably their endgame.
