daniel smith (@javajoint) reported@Anticleric FB would be to the Metaverse as AOL Online was to the Internet. A watered down walled garden. It might be "just ok" to those that dont know any better. For a time.. the real stuff will win out though.

theresistance (@imres1stance) reported@JayWamsted I was 10 when the internet started growing, and email/instant messaging was born on dial up through AOL. SHIBWASABI (@shibwasabi) reported@LillyFinance This isn’t news when launching a company, let alone a finance company—web service you chose? Is this 1995? Was it Netscape? AOL? Yay!

Lowtimer (@lowtime21) reported@mekkaokereke @sysrich @kelseyhightower Not every human will need to use and understand #Bitcoin. But every money and every financial service will be needed to be build on #Bitcoin at some day. Otherwise they do not have a chance of survival. It like AOL, the network effects of an open protocol were too high.

Ajmer Singh Randhawa (@smartrandhawa) reported@NeoPanchayatic @SCUKofficial 1/3- All the princely states in India had to merge their states by signing on AOL but Panjab never signed as her legal heiress Bumba Sutherland was not asked, and no other person had the authority. Check authenticity of this claim, if I am wrong

The Rob Paradigm (@itchypooper) reported@fbdaury We were using local dialup BBS servers before the internet was available in early 1993. My 386 with its modem let me play games and chat with locals. Then AOL gave us the internet. Hot Damn, we were on the net!
