@ComfortablyAdv AOL was an interesting place and had some really cool communities, but most users of that service had no clue the things they were paying for, existed for free on the internet. AOL chatrooms were just heavily moderated and sanitized IRC for example.

Damn. I miss AOL Instant Messenger.

@scottlincicome It couldn't be as hard as to cancel AOL years back. Almost excruciating. "Stop following your script. Cancel, cancel, cancel."

Imagine being AOL. They were one of the first Internet service providers, but they weren’t the best. Be the best or the market will replace you before you even know it’s happened.

@CharlieWBrennan @joshgondelman @kaichoyce This is what bothers me. The whole kink dialogue just puts him in the same class as a million other AOL/(now) Second Life bad "doms" who don't know how to roleplay, but even in roleplay you have to honor a safeword. If he took it live and played that way, there's a problem.

@TanookiKuribo I have a few issues of this. I was penpals with the EIC on ye olde AOL and got sent some. It was trying real hard for that 13 yo male demo back then.
