(4) As Time Warner found out with AOL, very low “churn” rates in rapidly growing services, can be highly misleading, due to the denominator problem. One needs to do a cohort analysis (“How many 2019 subs left in 2021, etc.?”), not a simple average. The new CEO knows this.

@halhefner I remember being on the internet before AOL ushered in the September that never ended and corporations and VCs tried to turn it into a soulless quest for tokens. I also remember that we were all going to be taking smart drugs and getting cybernetic implants and flying cars.

My mom needed me to look at her computer screen so I waited for her to be ready, failed to download Calibre on AOL multiple times before saying **** it and getting it through Firefox, AND THEN was like "just to be sure, this wasn't a phishing email?" and guess. ********. what.

@kpeltola @lazygamereviews I met him back in my AOL days and correctly predicted that he would be cut loose during the annual December cost-cutting layoffs after he told me that he was working on an application to build a 3D map of the network.
