@ThatJohnJones Compuserve - there's a blast from the past! My first personal computing experience was a Viglen Genie circa 1990 My first personal internet connection was AOL - which I installed via a disc sent in the post Censorship was zero & the internet was amazing, if infuriatingly slow

@llandoniffirg 18, unless you count a word processor typewriter as a typewriter then 19. I purposefully never had an AOL account. I remember when the AO-HELLERS first came online back before the web; the days of Archie, ELM, Veronica, and chat boards. I'd have added BBS to the list though.

  • SapnaPatelAW
    Sapna Patel-Wheeler (@SapnaPatelAW) reported

I was likening it to banning Usenet, BBS'es, forums, all of which I was on before 16 -- and AOL Instant Messenger which was invented after I was older -- but this is true too. Awful mistake. Though if it gets kids reading more again from boredom, that could be one silver lining.

@Shr00msy @HMBohemond This isn't exclusive to the Gundam fandom and has been a thing since BBSs and AOL. It's individual people with bad takes and those takes are just as annoying as posts claiming 'all gundam fans' are annoying. A bunch of bored people on the internet don't speak for everyone.
