@munster_gene 1) the kids stuff is great for Brand 2) it’s too complicated 3) designed by “experts” (w/ any kids?) 4) it won’t get used much How do we know all this? We learned it all with AOL Parental Controls; was a KEY reason parents chose AOL; kids were the ones who knew it best (shutting it off); overall, minimal usage. anyone with kids, smiles at #2 above, in particular — engr, father of six, decade at Apple, five at AOL p.s. We will never see any stats on Apple/iPhone “kid safety” usage, due to points above; they’ll just keep taking about how they work with “experts”, who ironically, often have few or no, children.

@TTrimoreau Anyone remember Apple's EWorld? It was Apple's attempt to gain some of the profits from the internet craze. I told them it would fail. It ended up being a year and half late, and was still just a rebranded version of AOL online. It folded shortly after being released.

@firstadopter The deal makes total sense to me. Arbitrageurs putting deal likelihood above 50% of going through. Can only make sense to compare to AOL X Time Warner if you think one of FOX or Roku has a bad destiny coming. FOX pays about 6% interest on debt.

@SmileyGnome @DarioCpx I am a still a big niche guy reminds me the early days of internet search (altavista, Aol, askjeaves, etc). Each one has their best use and worst. Also they are better at catching others mistakes than their own imho.

@AOL We don’t care, @AOL. Nobody with a functioning brain and a Spotify playlist cares. The world collectively decided years ago that Michael Jackson is untouchable, the allegations were a clown show, and you sad, jobless click-farm goblins are still out here recycling the same dusty script like it’s 2005 and people still trust you. Newsflash: they don’t. The King left the building, left the ranch, left the haters in the dirt, and his legacy is doing victory laps while you beg for engagement with “shocking” headlines that wouldn’t shock a houseplant. Touch some grass. Stream some Thriller. Or better yet, get a real job instead of farming MJ drama for pennies. The people have spoken: MJ forever, your pathetic “gotcha” content never. Stay irrelevant. 🖕

And btw y’all aol IM for my friends and I was the coolest thing in middle school, then it faded. So by the time we were in HS literally no one cared or used it. Maybe casually in freshman year? Everyone just wanted to hang out in person instead which was way cooler. The by sr yr

@redrum_panda Yea I watched my mom connect to the dial-up, AOL and then look up the Yodas Help website for the games that pointed to the ATI drivers. They thought I was too dumb to do it on my own but it was game over for them.
