    Bcuz kmt killed dad when I was 20 & aol was just starting & I became a drudge for 30 yrs in 2 months when life wasn't fun b4 20, I never looked into anything except japanese. Covid is the longest downtime I've ever had on bad mattresses, bad aircon, now bad heat & ekectric.

    @JohnProctorDFS AOL chatrooms had some of the most vile toxic discourse I've seen on the internet still to this day. Your point is spot on. People have talked like this behind a keyboard since the dawn of the internet. People didn't collectively try and act on this **** en masse though...

    @xoxogossipgita Aol in its heyday had a specialized company that moderated boards. So it's not like it wasn't the top standard from go. Of course that went away when subscription-based service couldn't compete with "free." (There were also the community moderators that sued, a different story.)
