@ggreenwald I am old enough to remember when AOL, Netscape, Yahoo and MySpace were the big things. I am not saying Twitter, Facebook and Google will face a similar fate, but by hacking off a large segment of their customer base, I am not saying they won’t.

At the risk of dating myself: back in my day you didn't openly discuss what you did or didn't do online. It was the wild west and AOL was a teeny tiny well-appointed saloon where the guests were blissfully unaware of the crazy **** going down around them

Dad has finally canceled his @AOL account. They've stolen their last $40 monthly fee. Listened to him try to speak to customer service on the phone and they were godawful. Nobody understands these call center people and they don't listen. AOL just doesn't care. Good riddance.

@Kung_Fu_Cthulhu @Blackmajikman22 Honestly AT&T had a lot of great ideas. Time Warner's biggest issue is that until AT&T came around it was a bunch of fiefdoms (AOL, Time Warner Cable, Warner Bros., HBO, Turner Entertainment, Time Inc., New Line, Warner Music Group) that refused to work together.
