Aol address: never had one but I think my dad did Record player: family had one Film camera: depends. If this is actual movie film, no. If classic roll of film you have to develop? Yes. Mixed tape: had a few. Phone booth: yes. Cursive: man it has been a long time but yes. Check book: yes. Typewriter: yes Dictionary: multiple times before Google was a thing VCR: it was how I watched the original land before time, secret of NIMH, and others. Paper map: yes.   @NilesSankey The Bungie of my memories was (as you say) a once in a lifetime confluence of people and a particular time in the world. I remember when they were a "keyword" on AOL (before AOL had full Internet access, sort of like a link) and fans were also prevalent on UseNet. This time (and the decade after) was when the fans and the devs had such tight contact that everyone was "in on the joke" when The Webmaster, Disembodied Soul or other online "persona" would rib, tease, or outright insult gamers. Not as if they were family, because they WERE family. It was great while it lasted, but things inevitably change and more and more gamers started considering themselves "customers" and that Bungie should treat them as such ("the customer is always right" mantra for example). The playful and sometimes hardcore "back and forth" went away. The tight connection between the devs and their fans became customer service interactions with consumers. People were told "It's not 2004 anymore" and the fact is that they were right. The era had passed and something new/different had replaced everything. That carefree, brave, willing to take risks, adventurous outlook of a tightly knit team isn't something that can be forced and it isn't likely to survive current-day corporate culture. It's not 1994, 2004, or even 2014 anymore. But it WAS fun!

  @xinspiteofx There has never been one message. If there was, there wouldnt be nearly 50 years of people making sounds about unity. Defining fakes now is worse than the dial aol days. Anyone with the internet is a hc influencer. So define hardcore before going forward with anything else.

  @BlueHawkLegend I get that, but the amount of utility is not enough to say that it’s being used at any kind of scale really. It’s like the beginning of the Internet when we had Netscape and AOL. It seems like everybody was using it, but most people weren’t. And out of the entire planet only five people have exposure to crypto that’s nothing imagine what percent of that is actual utility. It’s insignificant it’s hard to see because we’re immersed in it all the time and we think everyone knows about it and we wonder why people aren’t doing something about it why they’re not buying bags of it. It’s because you’ve done all this research and you know what’s going on and you’ve been knowing what’s going on for probably years so it’s frustrating because stuff isn’t happening but it will and when you look back, you’ll be like holy crap I was so freaking early and I had the patience of a saint and you’ll pat yourself in the back and then go jump in your swimming pool of whatever precious gem you fill it with lol who cares what everyone else is doing and what the price is doing if you’ve done your research, you know where it’s gonna go and that’s all you have to have Vision and the faith and the patience to wait for it to happen
