@DailyCaller Lol clown. The pandemic showed that entire companies could work from home. Cheaper and far more convenient for the employees, and far cheaper for the businesses. NYC is never coming back the way it used to, just like AOL and Blockbuster video all went the way of the dinosaur.

  • SilvasDesign Steve Silvas (@SilvasDesign) reported

@JustinMcElroy I remember the first video I ever downloaded was a clip of 311’s “All Mixed Up” video from an AOL music channel. It was 180p, probably 5fps, terrible sound… and it was glorious. I played it over and over because I’d never SEEN the band before!

  • Tenacious_Ness Ness (Mourning Jeremy) (@Tenacious_Ness) reported

@notKoze I honestly don’t understand what’s so hard about this, it was no different when we were kids. Remember AOL chatrooms? Same **** happened there too.

  • BTCforGermans CaptainSkywalker (@BTCforGermans) reported

@hallam @Tr0llyTr0llFace So you wana tell me that crypto didn't solve the byzantine generals problem? Can you show me some proof why consensus algorithms don't work? Great Master of web security since AOL days. I'm open to discussing this.

Also, I learned to type via my first pc that had AOL installed. I ended up frequenting an AOL trivia chatroom. At the beginning, I knew most of the answers but was so slow with my two index fingers. Eventually got better at it just because I wanted to win trivia rounds.

  • EileenKelley20 EMK (@EileenKelley20) reported

@TuckerMtn @catturd2 I had the same issue with my aol email. I then used my Comcast email and the emails came through…..then a day later the aol emails came. I’m just going to use my Comcast. Hope this helps.

  • JessL3d JessL3D (@JessL3d) reported

@hackaday I was on BBS's using an Amiga 1000 and then accessed Genie until I bought a Epson "Multimedia" system. AOL had an internet menu item back in 1993 which got me hooked. I accessed the Detroit Greener and then got Netcom for Internet access and never looked back

  • EssArrBee Shrew-Anon (@EssArrBee) reported

@JustinMcElroy 1999: I was obsessed with the movie Rushmore and someone told me they knew Jason Schwartzman’s AOL screenname! So I proceeded to have a weeks-long chat with him and… will never know if it was really him? And I don’t care? FWIW, the SN was something-something Bellagio.
