  @brockpierson Yes. Prodigy (Prodigy Interactive Personal Service) was a commercial online service that people accessed with a dial-up modem over regular phone lines. It launched publicly in 1988 as a joint venture of IBM and Sears (originally developed as Trintex with CBS). You installed their client software on a PC or Mac, the program dialed a local access number, and you connected at typical early speeds of 1200 or 2400 bps. Later they added faster modem support and, in 1994, web access. It was one of the “big three” consumer online services of that era, alongside CompuServe and AOL. Users got news, weather, email, bulletin boards, shopping, stocks, games, and similar features through a graphical interface—not the open internet at first. Startup kits sometimes even bundled a modem. The classic Prodigy service ran until the late 1990s; after that it shifted toward being an ISP before fading out.

  @akafaceUS It used to take days to cancel AOL. Now you just have to resist the temptation of Sirius radio for $5 a month. No, would you pay $3 a month?

  @Graestra @byoanarchy So everytime she booted up aol I would hall *** out of the house, my demanded to sit with me one morning before work and the janitor showed her where they were keeping me and my mom started flipping tables and ****, they called 9/11 and the cops took my mom's side.

  It really is true that if you go on here just to hang out and have fun with people all over the internet, it's almost possible to get a little taste of like early-2000's forums and stuff (or for some, maybe AOL chat rooms). I long for the day I can nuke my other account.

  @jamusp Yeah, but their servers are all still running Win2K Server and Bob lost the database passwords when AOL took them over That's really why they won't change it--Vivian in the Mail Room has them written down on a PostIt stuck to the backside of the plotter printer, but don't tell anyone. It's hilarious watching Bob grumble and act like he's not still looking for it every morning while he tries to make his coffee last him until lunch since they caught him using a 2nd K-cup but he only bought into one share of the employee coffee pool Bob's a douche. He also manages their social media accounts, btw. Just sayin'

  @mariza_hofer Desperate people, don't **** with them. They can't be predicted in any meaningful fashion. Imo. I was tech support for the world's first chat based communities. AOL and Prodigy and V.B.B.S. I can say this I got catfished once, and a 17 year relationship was the results. Favour of god to your unity with an equal and opposite force. My dignity is all that keeps me from flirtatious decorum. Will be looking for someone of quality to refer to you for inspection.

  @Dan_Jeffries1 Gates never said this. In the 1990s, Microsoft focused on proprietary online networks (MSN) rather than the 'internet'. Think AOL. The 'internet' was a side product you got by connecting to their proprietary service. Downplaying to be the source of connection = marketing 😐

  This current A sol kit is so bad. I don't find him fun at all the active frame on his skills are so slow. It reminds me of prime AOL days when I was kid. I am not asking for damage buffs I am asking for faster cast speed on W and R.
