@SenBlumenthal Guess your memory forgot about pre-Internet places where it was just as prevalent, like AOL, GEnie, CompuServ, numerous dial-up BBSes, then USENet, MySpace, ICQ, MSN Messenger, Friendster... Maybe the problem isn't "Big Tech", it's your got-dang kids and terrible parents. 🤔

@AOL JUST IN -AOL deletes inactive customer's email addresses with no way to get them back whatsoever! Terrible.

@lilduval 3 days. I just couldn't sleep. It was back when all we had was AOL Online (dial up). I was hallucinating by day 3. Never again.

AOL must have blown a couple of fuses....won't let me sign in after repeated reset of password, so the mail is backing up, nothing but advertising anyway.

@realZenelan @ddayen All had access to online in 1996 was AOL chatrooms. LOL 2002-2009 was the heyday of message boards! I suspect they'll never come back simply because google changed its algorithms to bury everything interesting outside of the big tech formats.
