  @_tinatruth Steve Bartlett explained financial bubbles in one minute. The AOL–Time Warner story is a powerful reminder that HIGH VALUATION IS NOT THE SAME AS REAL VALUE. It reminded me of something I wrote on August 17 on my post 👇 A GREAT ASSET doesn’t automatically make a GREAT INVESTMENT. Pay too much, and your returns can suffer. Allocate too much capital, and one mistake can damage your entire portfolio. That’s why I believe good investing isn’t just about choosing the right asset. It’s about paying the RIGHT PRICE and sizing your position wisely. The AOL–Time Warner story didn’t teach me that lesson. It reinforced it.   I was a senior in highschool and was talking to a girl a year younger than me. One time she spent the night and I turned my computer on and hacked the company her dad owned. I found her dad's signature in the payroll files and pointed it out to her. You could tell she was uneasy about it but fascinated at the same time. By the time I graduated I had received three letters from AOL asking me not to hack their ****.

  Something about $BSP: they bought AOL at a 5x income before tax, which is optically cheap right? The small issue is that they bought it from Apollo and imho there's zero chance Apollo got a bad deal

  @chisportsross He’s on the spectrum, ain’t nothing going on in that head of his, but put basketball through hoop. Listening to AOL dial up noises as his hype track. All that to say it’s entirely not just believable, but likely that he was too stupid to understand a single thing going on.

  @LitterboxComics I was a new dad trying to research way to help my wife. Been trolling the depths of the internet for fun since AOL was a thing. I was not prepared for the deprivation and inhumanity I found in online parenting forums.
