  • truthisjustice2 That’s Dr. Truthisjustice, to you. (@truthisjustice2) reported

@LaurenGallaway Dial-up AOL was too slow for recreational use, mostly. I would have been out on a date or out with friends. Back in those days, we gathered together and breathed each other’s air without a second thought 😢 If I was home, I’d read or watch TV or rent a movie from Blockbuster.

  • EDuihar Emmes Duihar (@EDuihar) reported

@TeeEss Ok. So help me remember. Is this before high speed internet? If so, then I was dialing up to AOL to check messages. That took most of the night. I know. Saturday night, but it was the only day where I had time to wait.

@Mmdw34 @AOL I had a similar hacked problem with my account until Frazier_hacker02 on Instagram helped me recovered my account

@knitgrrl Oh for goodness sake. I was online in 1990. My high school had a full computer lab in 1983. The guy I dated in 1982 had a PET, and a Commodore64. He went on to help make the internet, and was AOL’s guy who fought for world-wide access, including the fibre line to the tip of SA.

  • ForeverHollywo3 ForeverHollywood (@ForeverHollywo3) reported

@MoviesSilently I had a BBS (Bulletin Board Service) in 1985. Single line dial-up modem. The World Wide Web came in the early 90's. People who weren't around think AOL was the internet..

  • MockRamblings Michael Mock (@MockRamblings) reported

"Wait, all you're offering is an email account?" "THAT IS ALL THE POWER LEFT TO US NOW. AND IT'S MOSTLY JUST AOL." "Well... that's..." "IT IS TOO LATE! YOU CALLED UPON US. YOU WILL NEVER HAVE A COOL EMAIL ADDRESS AGAIN." "No!" "UNLESS!" "Unless? UNLESS YOU REVIVE US."

  • andyflattery Andy Flattery (@andyflattery) reported

@WCInvestor @IDFinancial Google, AOL, Yahoo, Lycos and Excite were all trying to solve the problem of internet search. So this is not a serious refutation of btc.

  • OhaiKrikket Krikket (@OhaiKrikket) reported

@Kinsale42 ****, I remember being on Prodigy in 1989. We probably also had AOL by 96.
