@Debra__VA @SirPatStew Oh yes! I remember the AOL alert scrolling across the top of my screen. I has never seen anything like it before. We had the race on in the living room. I was on the computer in the bedroom and my ex was cooking hamburgers. I yelled from the bedroom for him to check the TV.

And holy **** I wish there had been a community of adults when I was a minor that told me not to interact with them. I had a collection of **** pics when I was TWELVE from AOL chatrooms where I told people I was 15. Not a single adult spoke up. Just uggghhMSKSKSNDJI

@AOL I request some mail since we hired a service and they not answer our calls

  • IonicSabrist Patrick O'Shea (@IonicSabrist) reported

@misuthewitch Oh yes! My dad, being the early adopter, grabbed an obscure brand that no one had ever heard of and none of us used. I told him to get the IOmega zip disks but he never listened... Regular disks were usually courtesy of AOL. I was crushed when they switched to CDs

@banalplay Glad that when I was 14 I had to go to great lengths to publish a fanzine of my terrible opinions and bomb recipes, I couldn't just turn on my AOL and go to computer dot com to do so I mean technically I probably could have but was too much of an elitist for that

  • 41heis Marquis (@41heis) reported

@eyev_ @Bornwithadarkt1 @hennycran When the internet was made widely available for personal computers it was loaded onto a disc and installed on the computer. After that you also had to use your modem to connect to the internet by dialing using your phone service. Its AOL online/dial up if you’ve heard of that

My college selected the AOL for this week, and our professors wouldn't give us homeworks for now, students are already anxious and stressed, many of their parents have no jobs, son 🥺 Like them, we have financial problems too, I hope we overcome this. #TakecareBrightDay2

@jeffreyrasco I never saw those old email addresses in that light. I guess they are a way of saying "has been in business since like forever". Can you still get AOL addresses these days?
