    @iiboharz @garblefart i remember back in the dark days of AOL i would be trying to download a video and someone would always call our phone line like halfway through and interrupt the download

    @commieflavus It's essentially when AOL offered people free access to Usenet (a proto-social network) through their service in September of 1993, and the influx of new users never ended (whereas in previous years you'd only get an influx of new users in September as people left for uni)
