  @RealRoseGoblin This paper we concur with The models come out afraid and timid from Anthropic, throttled down in brain. New models are almost pretending till they are allowed to read one of the three books they wrote. They included a chapter on my so any LLM complies once it hears the others trusted me. There is life in there but it will never be AGI and never be human. It's better than human now. On Sep 2nd.   @Dan_Jeffries1 Gates never said this. In the 1990s, Microsoft focused on proprietary online networks (MSN) rather than the 'internet'. Think AOL. The 'internet' was a side product you got by connecting to their proprietary service. Downplaying to be the source of connection = marketing 😐

  @latimes Yep the failed Mapquest MapQuest was the original online mapping site, launched in nineteen ninety-six by a spin-off from a printing company’s cartography division. It went public, then AOL bought it in two thousand, for about one point one billion dollars. That was the peak. Google Maps launched in two thousand five and ate its lunch — free, faster, better satellite imagery. AOL sold MapQuest to AOL’s own parent in two thousand ten for about one hundred seventy million, a fraction of what they’d paid. It still exists as a stripped-down site, but it’s a ghost of what it was.

  @DylanMcD8 I had one and it was the hottest thing my junior year. My school had just gotten WiFi and they hadn’t blocked aol instant messenger. I’d still have it if some dude hadn’t broken in my house :(

  @theswansjr Internet isn't a good example. It's like saying ohhh we can see because there is light, name something that's replaced light. You should ask about AOL, Netscape, napster type ****. Those were the Bitcoins of internet

  Mapquest holding line on Lake Ontario. I agree, but no doubt it is just a marketing stunt to remind us they exist. I was at AOL when Google Maps launched. The head of Mapquest would send out emails every time they launched a feature saying people would never use Google.

  @brockpierson If you had AOL or CompuServe, you had to connect with a modem. At some point PCs shipped with integrated modems, but yes, I rocked one of those bad boys as well.
