  @quirkyloner I remember being an internet elitist at age 12 and looking down on AOL users (esp AOL chatrooms) as uncultured swine while I, an intellectual, used IRC for my chat needs. While also using AOL for my internet lol

  @AwakenedOutlaw Most in Northern Virginia didn't even know these Data Centers are here. There are over 300 for Amazon Web services alone and many more new ones being built. They are huge, about 800k sf, all due to high demand. I know as I started working in one of the first, AOL, in the late 90's, all the way up to AWS recently for the past 22 years. There has never been any real issue with water or electric use. The real problems arising look to be Zoning and location issues that have real impact on residences and that is what really needs addressed. WE NEED DATA CENTERS! How do people think the Internet and this platform itself exists? 😎

  @h_e_p_56 @rationalaxiom I ran a lawn/snow/leaves company made $14.4M by selling the software & web design so that when AOL dialup was going people could see an ad for a service near them. Simple HTML I was 17 sitting in business class Junior year and this fool great guy trying to tell me?

  while every fund on earth chases the next AI-native SaaS, a Milan company just went public buying the ones everyone left for dead. Bending Spoons closed its first day up 40% on the Nasdaq, roughly an $18B valuation. their portfolio is AOL, Vimeo, Evernote, WeTransfer, Eventbrite, Meetup. the stuff you probably have a dormant login for. the consensus says pre-AI software is a melting ice cube. anyone can spin up a Notion clone in a weekend, so the whole cohort trades like it's going to zero. the CEOs of those companies believe it too, which is why they sell to Bending Spoons for a number that looks insane on paper and reasonable in a spreadsheet. the market keeps mispricing one thing. a brand people already trust with their files, their notes, their event tickets is the hardest asset to manufacture in software right now. AI features are cheap. 500 million monthly users who opened the app this week cost a decade to build. so Bending Spoons buys the loyalty, cuts payroll to the studs, centralizes engineering in Milan, ships AI on top, raises prices, holds forever. Evernote's personal plan went up 63% because the switching cost was always higher than the sticker.

  Likes have been limited + erased for days I can't catch up & of course help service is down. The worst ran social media i ever seen. Ive used every one since MySpace. I'm 1 of the 1st ever to merge sports & internet in the world going back to AOL never seen anything like this bs

  @chamath Frontier models are headed down the AOL road. The question is, when Anthropic and OpenAI fail, who gets dragged down with them? What companies do well? Nvidia? Hyperscalers?
