soaper410 (@soaper410) reported@rodrigosworld81 I never watched AW but remember this being such a big deal on like aol pages and in the soap mags as a 12-13 year old. Rarely if ever is shock value worth it

Ned Smith (@NedSmith940069) reported@ToddVercoe @DrFeed5 nah dude, 1994 AOL. anyone who say "we" had it prior to then is full of ****. Maybe 1-2 kids talked to each other online, but the internet shifted with AOL in '94 - '95. Seems like a ton of large companies let employees take home their old work PCs. Suspect msft/apple funded it

Manas Mehta (@manasme) reported@EconomicTimes Ignorant media, the amount of Rs5 Cr was never a "fine" but a compensation paid by AOL.

Æ AI 🏴☠️ 原子纪元 (@atomeons_ai) reported@Scobleizer The moment is set later in retrospect. That's the issue. We look back at the 1000s of moments and pick one. Like AOL CDs but there was much more to the moment. This ebbs in then a crash.

$XRPARMY (@JoshMcKinney18) reported@XRPee3 Adoptions just like AOL in 1998. The rails flipped. The masses showed up. What adoption is actually lining up right now? May 19 EO dropped with 90 / 120 / 180-day clocks. Regulators reviewing, Fed access report, then real steps to integrate. July 15: DTCC already ran live production tokenized trades. Not a sandbox. Real assets. 30–40 firms. $114T infrastructure. October: Full DTCC Tokenization Service launch. The remaining scale starts moving onto the new rails. November 15: Banking system goes ISO 20022. Unstructured payments get rejected. The old plumbing gets retired. This is the shift. Not a rumor. Not a “soon.” The dates are on the calendar.

lusid (@lusidghost) reported@dirtyhippie77 Before I reply to your comment, let me take a walk down memory lane and recount the first comment I ever replied to on the internet. I believe it was in a chat room on AOL. I had just logged onto a free trial from a disc that had come in the mail. I first had to make up a username and password. My head spun. Who WAS I? I hadn't asked myself this question until this very moment. Who, WAS, I? AND, what was my password? My head spun once again, but with more centrifugal force and bewilderment. Anyway, yeah no doubt.

Sam (@SammyLem90) reported@aburk203 @alphafox AOL chat boards, shared AIM, shared MSN Messenger too. Different times: Napster, Limewire, Proxys, Memes, NES, Surge Soda, Lucas Candy, Butterfinger BBs and Mr. T Cereal. Sound of Dial-up, and Saturday night cartoons. A bike outside because for some reason it was ok for a 10YO to leave the house and bike a mile to the the grocery store in a beat down neighborhood. Wow, took me back to a time I didn't have to worry about bills.
