@Doc_Harding @Nerienis Perhaps their sudden popularity (and unprepared infrastructure) will destroy their success, like it did AOL back in the day with the busy-signal fiasco. 🫤

I'd known about #DnD but never played. Not even the geeks/nerds in my school played, as far as I know. And most of my schools have always been predominantly Black, so there was no representation. (I did do a lot of text based RPing on AOL tho)

@MaxKennerly I put that more as a counter to my own thinking and biases. As I explained in the thread, there are many signs of bad times ahead for them. Tend to think it's like AOL/Yahoo. It's a big big ship. So it can burn on the sea for a very long time before it goes down.

@WaddleandSilvy @ESPN1000 @TWaddle87 I still have an AOL email but I haven't paid for the service since like 2003.

@pepperrabitt That tweet gives me bad flashbacks of AOL dial up.

Just got spam called by SiriusXM. I still have no idea why they exist for anyone outside of a few long haul truckers. They are the AOL dial up service for fiber optics and 4G phones. They're the cassette tape slot for your Tesla. I'm boggled by them.

@CMcGeeIII @AOL ****, my mom still has an AOL email. I should ask.

Ain’t you tired Miss Hilly (@JeebusFriedRice) reported
There’s something energizing and restorative about having the freedom to shout the truth from the mountaintops, even if nobody’s listening. I took so long to get my own social media because of how bad it was back in the AOL days. Nowadays there’s a “block” button. Right on!

What's your AOL? Do you wanna hang out after school?

@GregCfollows @joshtpm @MaxKennerly IMO, just on the er, face of it, Facebook is AOL. I've never been on it partly for that reason-- I had been an original AOL user, no need to duplicate that experience.

@HedgeDirty My considered opinion is that anyone who was around to report on AOL is not a serious voice in the conversation around modern tech issues.
