GH HILL (@GHHILL1911) reportedAny 2010 Tech Nostalgia? Working on Privateer. I started this one - at least put it into Google Docs... In 2010. MUCH has changed since this, technology-wise. I mentioned certain Tech Things by name that described those tech things in some detail. The problem is all of that stuff - ALL OF IT - is painfully outdated. AOL. Skype. Blackberry. Hotel Phone Calls. Adobe Flash. Now, I COULD keep all this stuff and keep Privateer a period piece, but I don't think anyone is waxing nostalgic about 2010 Tech Trends.

Jon Lareau (@Irunwithdogs) reported@BaileyRoseBoyle @AshleyInMKE That makes sense, and I'd imagine you're not alone in the experience of knowing what some things are despite never having actually used/ done them, like an AOL account.

Tony Peterson (@soflinvest) reported@Matt_Pinner Never had a waterbed. I still use my original AOL email address.

Mortifer Vates (@Breck0882) reported@SmugAlana YouTube’s day is coming, much like AOL, Netscape, yahoo, MySpace, ect. The days as king are limited. To much customer dis-satisfaction, something will come along and dethrone them. And it’s not going to be kick or rumble. It will be something new.

jojimbo (@jojimbo_) reported@dakroot I started...1994? Intro to computer science I was sold & never looked back. ICQ (messenger) predated aol msgr, it was pretty cool, & i did like chatrooms. I worked nights & usually stayed up all night doing homework, so they were good ways to "socialize" around my crazy hours.

Pedro Henriques (@p3dromig) reportedEveryone worries over EU startups flipping to the US. One Italian company is buying up American ones instead. You probably opened three of their apps this week. Bending Spoons is a Milan company most people outside Italy might never have heard of. Founded in 2013. Started as an app studio. Then it turned into an acquisition machine. The list is close to absurd now: AOL, Vimeo, Evernote, WeTransfer, Meetup, Eventbrite, Brightcove, Komoot, StreamYard. Recently they added Airtable. Over 50 deals in total. Most of the marquee names are American. All of it runs out of a single office in Milan. We all see European startups do the reverse Delaware flip. Move from the EU to incorporate in the US, chase US capital, hand control across the Atlantic. Bending Spoons runs it the other way. It buys American brands and moves ownership and control to Europe. You do not see that often. Bravi, @bendingspoons !! I run a European company, and we have a subsidiary in Milan. Nothing against US startups, but I want my kids to grow up in a Europe that buys, not only one that gets bought.
