@materkel A lot of individuals always fall back on the incredibly dumb and unintelligent “lol remember AOL and Netscape?” analogies, and it always makes me want to pull out my hair. They should be making the comps to Internet protocol winners, or even OSI layers and their subsequent platforms and hardware buildout, but the insanely stupid human brain always wants to cite AOL, Netscape, Yahoo because it’s easy to grasp and it fits their specific desire (that hopefully Bitcoin and Ethereum are less permanent global infrastructure, and more like “companies”). Retard-world. lol.

@DerekPederson3 @Noahpinion It comes down to how important and interesting you think Netscape, AOL, etc, were. That;s the only possible claim to major events in the 1990s

@anvilpw @LewisWetzel5 @themagaking Interesting. I got online in 1990. FSU ran a pilot program, and I bought a modem. 32K, I think. Cost me over $300. That's easily over a thousand now. I signed up for AOL before there was a Yahoo. The service from FSU was subscriber based, and alloted you a certain number of hours a week. Ridiculously low. I don't recall ever consuming all my hours in the beginning. When I got online, there were less than a hundred thousand total civilian users in America, and none anywhere else. There was almost no income form the web, friend. I doubt your assertion.

@GoodBadFlicks I've worked for several ISP's—AOL, Prodigy, MSN plus eBay; never had a single official meeting that was worth a damn. Had one unofficial meeting with an AOL veteran at Denny's after work that was very enlightening, worth a year of training in letting me know how the company really worked.

@timothysykes We just had good earnings for so many tech companies, that is different from the crash time. I recall AOL going from 80 to 160 or so then splitting, like four times before I finally bought at 80 then it never saw 85 again. Different periods.

@Masterji_UPWale Same is true for my AOL email account, which I have had since 1994. I don't use it much and have amassed a lot of junk email, but there is never any request to maintain that account or buy storage for it.
