@ifandbut01 @ThatEnglishGent @LoreReloaded @SpacedockHQ @MccabeAlasdair @EckhartsLadder No, but the FidoNet BBS's did. We also had Prodigy, and AOL. Some smaller ones as well. There has always been debate. Never has it been so bad. I remember there being a lot of hate for Voyager. Hate for DS9. The hate because, or over (neutrality sake) STD, imo is overwhelming!

With AT&T spinning off Warner and Verizon dumping AOL and Yahoo, I think I see a path to revive the DuMont Network ... Or Radio Shack.

@Carnage4Life Heck, AOL/Time-Warner never made any sense. How much money was wasted on these "synergies"?

time for everyone to fixate on whether aol is the same thing as a decentralized network (it’s not and that’s okay for the purpose of the analogy)

@tracyalloway If you've done any real research, there are MANY reasons why Bitcoin will never be the "AOL of crypto." People who say things like this reveal an utter lack of knowledge/understanding of Bitcoin and "crypto".

@willmckinley Toss it in the graveyard of bad mergers next to "An AOL Time Warner Company"

@tracyalloway @KrystianLaskow1 If bitcoin was taken over it would be a complete **** fest. No one would trust crypto. Comparing aol to btc is apples and oranges. Will not happen

So looks like that AT&T/Warner’s will go down as one of the worst business decisions since...the AOL/Time Warner deal.

@JeffNewman72 @YahooNews AOL couldn't deal with Time-Warner, either. Maybe, just maybe, it's TW. Or everyone sucks.

I'm listening to some idiot arguing that you can't make Facebook a utility because it replaced MySpace, but the Internet is a public utility. Despite the fact that the Internet replaced Prodigy, Compuserve, AOL, Usenet, etc.

Apparently AOL does not want me sending e-mail this morning. 3 attempts to multikple addresses have failed with: There was a problem saving the message. Please try again later. (EC-4008). Of course AOL will blame some other outfit for the problem. Anyone else having issues?
