@tommie_leydsman @AOLSupportHelp I feel the pain Tommie my mum is having the same issue, she is 70 had the same account for over 30 years. It's her life, I can't get the verifications codes sent to email or mobile. We've been treated so bad, there is no way of contact through phone. My poor mum is devastated.

@deep_jake_ Idk, I recovered free trials from AOL daily, also Juno and net zero and Yahoo… I never had to pay furor dialup in the 90’s… I’ve never received a free trial to MugClub, only ever been told “piss off YouTube!”

  • 12986Fay Hugh R Fay-Canoes (@12986Fay) reported

@jon_bois I'd help but my AOL isn't working I should have kept DSL

@AimeeBWrites As a fellow 44 AOL chat user, I never miss an opportunity to tell my kids that we invented LOL, LMAO, BRB, etc. Online culture wouldn't be what it is today without genx

  • poseidonides TPW (@poseidonides) reported

@Trevornoah @HecateDemetersd That trip to Mordor is still easier than trying to cancel AOL in the '90s.

  • JESRtheelder JESR (@JESRtheelder) reported

I have derived a rule for staying sane online, which I wish I'd recognized on Prodigy, or AOL, or Live Journal or worst: Fandom ****. Thus: never make more than three replies in any thread unless you are identifying pictures of plants.

  • jimmygandhi Jimmy Gandhi (@jimmygandhi) reported

@opinonhaver @MazMHussain I never bought the "digital natives" bullshit. Zoomers use phone apps and the internet browers. Both those things are designed to to be idiot-proof. It's like people in 1996 who claimed to be computer-savvy because they use AOL.

@Death_Bow I only disagree in that you forgot to mention the giant wire spool coffee table that sat in front of the couch that was picked up off the sidewalk on garbage day. Maybe just me, but I also decorated my first Christmas tree with empty holiday Coca-Cola cans and AOL floppy disks.
