My mind can’t compute that AOL already had IMing in 1994, a year after they started their service, lol. I personally got my first email and used the internet at home in 1998, lol. #FearStreet1994

  • GlennRubenstein Glenn Rubenstein (@GlennRubenstein) reported

@pierogiwitch @AFinalBoy @beenotbea If he was stealing AOL it would’ve been a login for a screen name or master account — this was ~2 years before America On-Line introduced flat rate and you paid $3.50 per hour that you used on the service, plus any charges to dial-in if it wasn’t local.

  • iainsnotes Iain (Rae) Lennox 👨🏻‍💻 (@iainsnotes) reported

@DynamicWebPaige @netflix AOL on an Amiga 2000, or a Garbage song that wasn’t released until a full year later. It’s full of issues

  • drfardook That Long Haired Guy (@drfardook) reported

@claytoncubitt The thing back in the late 90’s where everyone thought letting AOL users out of their walled garden would be a bad thing… we were right

  • RuckCohlchez Slave to the Two-Party Grind (@RuckCohlchez) reported

@SamtheNightOwl @fingerbIaster @DisneyCumBlast i was teenager on AOL way back when and i have a distinct memory of posting in some forum that i thought astrology was stupid and some longtime regular quit over it. EVEN I WAS LIKE "i'm a teenager why the hell does my opinion matter to you so much" lmao

  • GlennRubenstein Glenn Rubenstein (@GlennRubenstein) reported

@pierogiwitch @AFinalBoy @beenotbea If he was stealing AOL it would’ve been a login — this was still 2 years before America On-Line introduced flat rate plans and you paid like $4 per that you used on the service, plus whatever charges to dial in if there wasn’t a local node.

@mxmgodin @_GinaTron We also didn't use hyphens when writing on AOL in 1994. Also are we to believe those poor ***** in Shadyside could afford two phone lines? How did the phone ring when he was online?! Oh and the song Firestarter by Prodigy didn't come out until 1996! Fear Street was a lie!

  • jmeowmeow Jeff Miller (@jmeowmeow) reported

@rechelon I had to cancel a payment card to unstick myself from ... maybe it was AoL?

  • la3dpr LA 3D Printer Repair (@la3dpr) reported

@Foone AOL chat rooms did not, AIM did way later on, and was the first mainstream instant messenger to support it that I’m aware of, but some slate article says MSN messenger (lol) had it in 1999.

  • gryffindope stevie 🏄🏻‍♀️ (@gryffindope) reported

aol decided to kick me out of my account and since I just changed my phone number, I can’t get back in! And apparently they won’t help anyone with password help unless they pay!!! and that’s the email that I need to get back into my laptop in two weeks.
