@Oddly_familiar @SazeracNELA @AndorianSoup It reminds me of early days on the WWW where every big company was creating their own version of the Web, like AOL, GEnie, Compuserve. If you wanted access to their content, you had to subscribe to their service. If your friends were on that platform, you wanted to be there.

  • anylaurie16 Laurie Kilmartin- Austin Creek/Cave Nov 26-28 (@anylaurie16) reported

@JenKirkman @asj519 Omg I spent hundreds a month on AOL chat rooms because AOL paid hourly who ******** is she talking about?

  • MassDemsWatcher MassDemWatcher (@MassDemsWatcher) reported

More extremism from a members of the MassDems. Losers Attacking members on a private chat channel. These people are awful. Andre Green is a scum bag - “Who TF. Is using AOL”. “Next they’re going to ask a/s/l. ********” #mapoli #bospoli

  • SazeracNELA Chuck Taggart 🖖🏻🏳️‍🌈 (@SazeracNELA) reported

@JeanElizKrevor @Oddly_familiar @AndorianSoup And where are AOL, GEnie (where I was) and CompuServe (which I could afford) now? They were rendered obsolete. It’ll be interesting to see how all these streaming channels and issues shake out as time goes by.

  • RedheadXilamGuy Daniel Dell #SupportJellystone (@RedheadXilamGuy) reported

How were the early 2000s the beginning of Cartoon Network declining in quality according to many people NOW? 1. AOL and Time Warner merging. 2. William Hanna's death in 2001.

  • TravisWynn25 Travis Wynn (@TravisWynn25) reported

@SixZzshOtRipZz And that's what will bring them down just like when AOL got ahold of WCW those major companies will either kill it completely or as soon as the slightest thing goes south sell it off to someone else

  • JoelKatz 𝙳𝚊𝚟𝚒𝚍 𝚂𝚌𝚑𝚠𝚊𝚛𝚝𝚣 (@JoelKatz) reported

@apark2453 @mmasnick Precisely the same reason digital information providers (like AOL) first embraced the internet as "hey, it's extra content we don't have to pay for" and eventually reduced the exclusive content to nearly zero and made internet service a utility.

  • CryptoCorvus1 The Crypto Overnighter (@CryptoCorvus1) reported

@fintechfrank Will each metaverse have it's own portal to serve that function? Kinda like AOL and Compuserve of old? Or will there be portable software to go from 'Verse to 'Verse? If so, who is building that? Will there be 'Verse browser wars? Remember the compatibility issues? JS vs ActiveX

  • CharlesTMeehan Gas, grass or ***, no-one rides for free. (@CharlesTMeehan) reported

@LaptopZen @trutherbotnet I was in my early twenties when AOL, Yahoo and Juno ran things and I thoroughly enjoyed getting free tunes from Napster; but later realized the **** was a Trojan Horse.

  • Mr_Smokahontus Mr_Smokahontus (@Mr_Smokahontus) reported

If you were born in the mid 80s early 90s….. you’ve seen some ****, lost some ****, forgot some ****, said yes to ****, said no to ****, adapted to ****, knew who Tom was, music was more creative, AOL was your hub to talk **** for free. Nokias we’re weapons, and OJ did it.
