@TallYouBack Since the lights are flickering I'll tell you the short stupid story. Dude from Boston thought my government name was Geiger. Which it very much isn't. But it stuck, including the accent. Then when I signed up for my second AOL free trial in 1995 my i key also stuck.

@katienotopoulos The equivalent of me in the aol chat rooms and IMs, stealing passwords just to read other people's email before they added the "AOL will never ask you for your password" warning

I go to look at mastodon for a minute, realize that there's a suspicious lack of diversity (SERIOUSLY, why is that?), and come back to find everyone getting ready to reenact the sinking of Titanic. Today has been wild. Old dial-up AOL chat room wild. ****, I'm old now.

@12bluedot12 I began the internet on AOL in 98. I had myspace. I had yahoo chat. All of these things became less interesting to me over time. The cruelty of people, the continual negativity and trolls. I find myself not wanting to read this garbage or waste time on useless activity.

I never really mastered Twitter, but I had some fun times and met some interesting folks. It will suck if it ceases to exist, but I survived the crash of AOL, so this is nothing. Yes, I know. I’m old.
