  The exact cause of the fire that destroyed the historic former church at East 55th Street and Central Avenue in Cleveland on August 21, 2026, is still under investigation. Gas Status: Officials stated that the gas service to the building had been turned off for a long time. Building History: The structure was built in the late 1890s—initially as a Jewish synagogue before serving as the Friendship Baptist Church for decades. Prior Issues: Police had responded to reports of break-ins and vandalism at the empty property over the years. According to an AOL report, no injuries were reported, but the 100-year-old structure suffered a catastrophic collapse of its wooden interior and is considered a total loss.

  @IzzatStatus The subscription model has been coming for years tbh. Remember how AOL stayed in business simply because so many people never canceled? Combined with the full erosion of ToS contracts, consumers are getting the shaft big time

  @jamusp Yeah, but their servers are all still running Win2K Server and Bob lost the database passwords when AOL took them over That's really why they won't change it--Vivian in the Mail Room has them written down on a PostIt stuck to the backside of the plotter printer, but don't tell anyone. It's hilarious watching Bob grumble and act like he's not still looking for it every morning while he tries to make his coffee last him until lunch since they caught him using a 2nd K-cup but he only bought into one share of the employee coffee pool Bob's a douche. He also manages their social media accounts, btw. Just sayin'

  My dad replied to news about my girlfriend with a green check mark. Honestly, appropriate. Our generation only writes well over text because we had to get good at it to date. AOL Instant Messenger, then years of practice with the stakes turned all the way up. His generation never needed the skill, so they never built it. The thumbs up isn't him being short with you. It's the whole sentence.

  I'm old enough to remember the days when people said the internet would never catch on and just be a fad. Look how far we've come from dial-up and AOL. We're at a similar beginning now with AI. When change is unavoidable, you have to embrace it, if you are to survive.

  @JuicySteen there was a strong appetite by some at AOL Time Warner to get them off the air despite being their highest rated show. It would have depended on if they were able to hang on until Spike opened up.

  @FilipPanoski Solve your own problem if the best strategy. If that doesn't work then copy the competition. You don't need to reinvent the wheel. Friendster > MySpace > Facebook AOL Mail > Hotmail > Gmail Hotbot > Infoseek > Yahoo > Google
