@cirsova @MutantDespiser I'm a bit biased since AoL was my first Zelda game, but I've always been annoyed how it became maligned as this black sheep of the series and seen as bad or lesser, when that really wasn't the case prior to OoT. Before OoT it was still seen as a solid entry.

@UsingCigarettes @MsRebeccaBlack I never went to that extreme but when I was 12 I’d go into rap chats on AOL and say “can’t spell crap without rap” and then write the chorus to Metallica’s “one” so I kinda get it, kids do things to rebel and are sometimes mean without understanding long term consequences

@the_stone_soup @locust9 I think it's largely this. If you give someone a soapbox and effective anonymity, you have a non-zero chance of hearing the worst **** ever from them. You'd see the same **** in the earliest days of the internet, from BBS's through AOL chat rooms to now.

ya know these streamers sure do like to get money and donations but they sure as **** dont like to talk or have a conversation outside of their monetized, "show all". I remember back in the aol days of the internet when you can drop into a chat room and have a conversation

@Cha0ticAc3_2 Same I've been on social media since the old AOL Online days, but I either was RPing my OCs or just browsing. I would have never thought to start up the drama seen these days, nor any kind of drama tbh. Especially when looking up hentai on a school PC back in high school lol.

@Andrea_Kryze @groovdafide @StarfleetMuseum Trek fans have hated on Star Trek since pre-AOL days, with usenet. DS9, Voyager, Enterprise, were all savaged by many as just awful. But, I've enjoyed every iteration of Trek, even Picard 1 (a bit draggy) & 2 (better), and have never understood the intense criticism.
