@Phips__ @justinbaragona I mean it may hang on as a low-priority vestige like AOL or Yahoo, but that's not saying much. That's the best case longterm scenario for Twitter... worst case is becoming like Friendster, Xanga or Myspace.

@MassDara Twitter won't "die". It'll most likely circle the drain indefinitely, hemorrhaging interesting users and relevance. It will eventually become a walking dead concern, like AOL, MySpace, and (optimistically) Tumblr. There won't be a loss of service, just a slow depressing slide

@the_darai Even the mass migrations from yahoo messenger to aol messenger to skype to discord were all phased across and two of those services had shut down long after the migration was completed.

@rj3000 DISCORD. AM not at home right now but tomorrow I plan on posting alternatives. Aol pulled this **** and it failed miserably a few years back.

While I am unsure Twitter will vanish overnight, this does remind me of when CompuServe, GEnie, AOL, all shut down in the late 1990s. There is a genuine sadness here. Losing the capability to talk to people with whom we only enjoyed having conversations online -- forever. :(
