    1998 I knew 3 passwords 1. Computer 2. AOL 3. Debit card WTF happened?

  • jet7111 Jet7111 (@jet7111) reported

@TonyKhan @AEW No Tony that would have never happened. Let me tell u Ted Turner lost power with AOL/Timewarner Merger. They wanted nothing to do with wrestling. They saw wrestling as beneath their network. They wanted to get rid of the Braves and Ted loved the Braves

  • jet7111 Jet7111 (@jet7111) reported

@WrestlingCovers Well some of the comments today are a bit ridiculous. Tony is wrong when he said WCW would have kept going if Ted wasn't there. AOL/Time Warner killed WCW Fact. They didn't care how much money they made Fact. They didn't want them and u got to have a TV Network to air on.

  • vidademigalhas Miguel (@vidademigalhas) reported

@TonyKhan @AEW apparently you don't know much, or you would know that it was a decision of Warner/AOL to get rid of wrestling on their channels. The ratings weren't the problem. Also, Ted hired Bischoff to make the wrestling decisions.

Earlier this month was the 25th anniversary of the time I lost my virginity to a girl I met in an AOL chat room for fans of The Mighty Mighty Bosstones. And in case you're wondering yes, we DID both have screen names that contained some variation of Rude Boy/Rude Girl.

  • markjeffrey Mark Jeffrey ⚡️🚀 (@markjeffrey) reported

@poetsvalentine Most people -- especially wealthy people -- are not like us. This AOL-ifies #bitcoin for them. That's actually never been done before, which I didn't understand.

  • violetvariant 💀violet💀 (@violetvariant) reported

@nvpkp my first memory of using the internet is logging onto an aol libertarianism msg board with a legit question. "I'm 12 and my mom is on welfare. would i die?" i did get one reply, and it wasn't so rude as you'd think. "here's the facts. your mom should get a job."

  • Jam_Brandon Bishop Sycamore Alumn (@Jam_Brandon) reported

@dave_schilling How? Ted Turner was never involved in the day to day WCW operations, after the AOL acquisition he had zero input

  • GesusKriest Demon Dave Is Spooky (@GesusKriest) reported from Big Spring, Texas

@TQSherwood Yup. Ted had no problem continuing to fund WCW but once he lost his power in the company, they were soon to be dead on arrival regardless. AOL-Time Warner wanted no part of pro wrestling/sports entertainment.

  • KydJustice Albert Albanese (@KydJustice) reported

@wrestleism @WrestlingBios They still were one of the highest rated shows on TNT despite booking. They got cancelled after AOL-Time Warner merged and they didn't want Wrestling on their network. WCW going under had literally 0 to do with booking.
