    There was a little robot (I think you could customize but mine was a robot) and you could hold down the option key and say something like "open AOL" or whatever mac os 9 people did, and maybe sometimes it would actually work, sometimes it crashed the computer

    Im old enough to remember Napster, lime wire, aol dial up, paid phones, beepers, atari, cassette tapes, vcr, type writers, & playing mine sweeper & still dont know wtf i was doing just trying not to click the bomb.

    @no_lying_online @basedball_ AOL Messenger was an instant messenger service for one-on-one chats. It was not a totality of community communication. MySpace was less social media and more a frontpage for yourself to litter with HTML garbage. Facebook would fundamentally change that dynamic.

    @clubjade That's pretty crappy if it's true. I don't remember what the name of my old AOL Star Wars group was, but we do have a FB group (that's pretty slow/inactive).
