  @BryanShephard2 It is all set now!! They hacked my email and aol has this stupid loophole that allowed them to keep doing it over and over. I guess that will teach me to keep aol! The good thing is I've had texts & calls from people I haven't heard from in a long time... Mike, Derek, etc.

  @MuseumCommodore 17 for me. Never used a TAC-2. I am too young to have seen a C64 running in a store. But I have left things like the 10-print maze running on a C64 I found in use at a daycare. I sadly missed QuantumLink. I called the 800 number once, and an AOL rep answered.

Regulators reviewing, Fed access report, then real steps to integrate. July 15: DTCC already ran live production tokenized trades. Not a sandbox. Real assets. 30–40 firms. $114T infrastructure. October: Full DTCC Tokenization Service launch. The remaining scale starts moving onto the new rails. November 15: Banking system goes ISO 20022. Unstructured payments get rejected. The old plumbing gets retired. This is the shift. Not a rumor. Not a “soon.” The dates are on the calendar.

  I managed to post a few photos in spite of the bad internet (for some reason, X/Twitter works much better than anything associated with Google; here in Gardiner, Google is like that 2004 AOL I was talking about earlier). Here's the view to the east, up the Yellowstone River canyon. The terrain to the right of the river is Yellowstone NP.

  In June 2000 a room of shareholders raised their hands and approved the worst deal in corporate history. The price tag was $120,000,000,000. Cable systems, film studios, magazines, record labels, actual assets producing actual cash. The internet company bought the media empire with stock. Paper bought property. Steve Case knew what his paper was worth. Gerald Levin took it anyway. Watch the men on the steps afterwards. Nobody is arguing. Nobody in that footage looks like they just lost anything. Two years later the combined company wrote down about $99,000,000,000 in a single year. That number is larger than the annual output of most countries. By 2009 the two halves were separated again, and the pieces were worth a fraction of what they carried in. Every analyst covering the deal called it visionary. The vote took minutes. The unwind took nine years.

  Koalas already sleep 18 to 20 hours a day just to survive on a diet of tough, low-calorie eucalyptus leaves, so during breeding season, when males travel across territory and call repeatedly searching for a mate, that search comes at a real energy cost. If success doesn't come quickly, researchers have observed both males and females essentially cut their losses, males quiet down and stop searching, while females retreat to familiar trees and reduce movement to lower stress and conserve energy. It's less about giving up out of frustration and more about biology forcing a hard limit, koalas run on such a strict energy budget that continuing to search nonstop could actually drain the reserves they need just to stay healthy for the next breeding opportunity. Later in the season, once energy reserves stabilize, males often pick the calls back up again. There's something oddly relatable about an animal whose entire strategy for disappointment is just going back to sleep.
