“Trolling,” as a fishing term, means drifting along the water and hanging bait. And often, the bait in social media (way back to Prodigy, AOL, and other network days) would be a controversial statement. It didn’t really mean “being a mean troll who lives under a bridge.”

  • pjaol Patrick O'Leary 💉 💉🇮🇪🇺🇸🏰🚢🏰 (@pjaol) reported

@8lettersuk You know I was amazed AOL never created an API for keywords to put into browsers - sponsored keywords direct to destination without search engines showing competitors would have made money; oh well

@nWo4lifeWCW @BookerT5x @Sting I wish the people at AOL never got rid of WCW. AOL/TIME WARNER. WORST MERGER EVER.

  • erehuoyerayhw That Crazy Cat Guy Who Makes Music (@erehuoyerayhw) reported

@Iamucli I am actually old enough to remember this. I talked to a few people when I was like 6 and they actually thought this **** was going to happen. And then January 1st 2000 rolled around and I was just chilling at home chatting with people on AOL. Lmao.

  • LucasCaylor Lucas Caylor (@LucasCaylor) reported

you kids with your talk about HBO. Back in '01, Warner was crippled by the AOL merger. Turner had budgets slashed, projects cancelled left and right, and Cartoon Network had to resort to buying what was then called "Japanimation" shows. And Applebees ads were everywhere on TNT

  • DespradoProfnd PROFOUND DESPERADO (@DespradoProfnd) reported

@SonicBlueRanger AOL doesn’t seem so bad, now

  • KingOrleans Brian King (@KingOrleans) reported

@GrantHermes Will the new AOL floppies fix the problem?

  • vhsbackup049 TSGHVS (@vhsbackup049) reported

@_amadith_ @sebganske @johncampea Yeah. If it's bad, then it's bad. This is basically begging for an artistic drought. It's begging for people who help you finance films, to ******* walk away. It's stupid, and a sign of how W/D is AOL/TW 2.0.

@JeromeChandra "Mum!, put the phone down! I'm on AOL!"

I will never stop making fun of Sam for still having an aol account.
