@HeerJeet If that's the case then Facebook is the new AOL which is why it's so terrible.

  • tmiller231 Tom Miller (@tmiller231) reported

@kleinwort @Stonekettle I left FB in 2016 and I totally agree. I see my MIL/FIL’s smiles when they see their ggrandkids and the frustration when things go wrong. B4 dementia, Mom had an AOL dial up. Called alot for help, sometimes I’d get annoyed. What I would give now to be annoyed one more time.

@jtLOL Apparently, she's the only person that never saw Facebook - The Movie. Clinical Psychologists have known that online media outlets "Balkanize" users into various groups since the late 1990's from AOL chat rooms to Facebook.

@Foone Windows 95s network stack was garbage. The TCP/IP driver that came with it was complete and utter jank. And on the personal side, if someone installed AOL, they overwrote it with their own.

@AOL please can someone on your team tell me why, when I go into my Emails it is opening it for one second, then the email totally disappears and I cannot retrieve it again. It is causing me great distress as I am waiting on important emails. #Help #LookForwardToHearingFromYou

@AOL One piece of the $3.5 trillion spending bill that the media is unlikely to tell you about—their bailout...a special journalism “tax credit” equal to 50% of the salary of each journalist—up to $50,000 per journalist annually." -Adam Guillette, Daily Signal.

@Theophite There was an AOL community called Heckler's Online, they had one game called HyperFiction where you basically competed to write the next page of a story (and it continued on), when HO shut down, we started our own website that stuck around for a little while.

@lil_kyloren Yikes, that sounds expensive!! What was AOL back then, $4.99 a month? I'm guessing, but that sounds about right. I still remember my first ever computer. We never had one when I was growing up. I think about 1997 or 1998. I had to share phone line w/ roommate too!
