@RoseCentaur1916 @Seitz_Unseen earthlink outlasted AOL as a service provider if im not mistaken, but AOL media outlasted them by a country mile

@Ericutz4thewin @TheAshenLuca Damn, in high school she did that? We got our first family PC in December of 98. My mom gave up on that PC by valentines day lol. I supported my own habit in high school via those free aol cds that came in the mail. I lived on free 30 day trials until like 2004 lol

  • RegularTweetsUK RegularCapital (@RegularTweetsUK) reported

@cartoonbrew Except when it was just Time Warner (before & after AOL but not during) it was the best time (pun unintended) Warner Bros./Turner etc. had. Also just before WB was sold to Discovery, the company was producing lots of hits, but was overshadowed by AT&T's debt issues.

  • TheGingerLedger GingerLedger.eth (@TheGingerLedger) reported

@superphiz Bitcoin is the AOL of web3 ✅Necessary for adoption ✅Hulking behemoth ✅Slow, predictable, and entrenched ❔Will still exist in the future while being practically useless (AOL is still worth $4B today)

  • MantleMVEVO MantleM (@MantleMVEVO) reported

This Warner Discovery **** is gonna end so horribly, I just know it. It has already generated some decade-defining PR nightmares, god only knows how the financial side is gonna crash considering Warner's history with mergers. It's gonna be AOL all over again.

  • AMIRAWASHERE 𝐀✮🫧 (@AMIRAWASHERE) reported

Damn remember when using AOL internet you couldn’t use the phone until you got done with it the internet? Crazy times

  • KyleMacLeanX Kyle MacLean 🍁 (@KyleMacLeanX) reported

    Don't be a Netscape **** Don't be an AOL **** Don't be a Nokia **** Don't be a VHS **** Don't be a Blackberry **** Don't be a COBOL **** Don't be a Luna **** Don't be a #Bitcoin **** Have a balanced portfolio Never go all-in on anything Don't let the future pass you by 👍

  • skearthsam Earthsam Productions/Sam20 (@skearthsam) reported

@CNschedules @cartoonnetwork The early 21st century is indeed a terrible time for WB. First AOL, then the entire company getting in debt, then the entire company struggling from the pandemic, now this.

  • Megamet1998 Mega Metool (@Megamet1998) reported

@bento_bongos @Benimated @hEnereyG I want to see this merger fail real hard. Warner Bros. is already repeating history and it needs to put an end with those failed mergers. It failed AOL and it failed again with AT&T.

  • csbmonkey chainsmokingbluemonkey: destroyer of shareholders (@csbmonkey) reported

(2 cont) Yes, most people do remember AOL as their first gateway service, which is fine. It worked, after all. But the "internet" proper was well underway by 2000, with the biggest barrier being finding the right people who had already waded through the muck to find the gems.
