I want someone to IM me in the gmail chat so bad. It is AOL instant messenger on a smartphone. Why are we not using this.

Last time anything like this happened was AOL, which was sort of a walled-off self-contained proto-social network (ie AIM and exclusive chatrooms & forums)

@nicotineliker I don’t see what the big deal is, i was on aol chatrooms at age 8 and i turned out terrible with a major internet addiction oh wait

@NoLieWithBTC I remember in the early 90s AOL tried to stop porn on their service so they used keywords that would block your search. They found out quickly it was a bad idea when the word breast was blocked and both cancer patients and cooks complained.
