anybody been on Myspace lately? AOL? Compuserve? Yes, the easiest solution would be for @elonmusk to buy Twitter. But, *competition* is the solution. Sure, a dozen little sites may not be able to defeat Twitter... but one may catch-on. The shotgun approach to capitalism.

@jenresisted Wtf is he talking about?! Why this week have they all posted these ominous Bible verses like it’s an AOL away message during a break up in 2004

  • torturesyndrome torture (@torturesyndrome) reported

  • neumaverick Adam Sheehan (@neumaverick) reported

@WanderinDreamr We advertised the showing on web rings, AOL chat, and BBS boards. some of the flyers we had up around campus we heard people saw them and called their friends in other states to tell them to come down for the screening.

back in the day in the TIMES OF AOL CHATROOM, AOL had this option called Radio, had Music videos(after years of buffering) and songs and ****, got into Placebo and Interpol through this, Obstacle 1 music video being one that stuck in my head

@GuilePeco I miss AOL. Kids these days will never know the fun we had.

@davestwittylife True. There ought to be a safe internet for kids and the elderly. The old AOL would have been perfect as all content was internally generated. Although, email is probably the greatest risk. Maybe have a white list only email service with literally only pre-approved ppl.

@CatManCaleb816 @lanaislifeee I've seen the behavior exhibited since the early days of the internet on AOL Chatboards, always thought it was extremely strange that people mostly badmouthed WCW as they vociferously proclaimed their undying, never-ending loyalty to Vince Jr. (even after "he screwed Bret").

  • DavidRossShow TheDavidRossShow (@DavidRossShow) reported

@elonmusk @elonmusk How about a universal platform? Open source is good, but it is never great. Do to social media what was done to email 30 yrs ago: From segmented and proprietary chat bubbles on AOL, Prodigy, etc to universal compatibility that can be sent and read across all platforms.
