@hdfatty People leave social media too dramatically. Just toss up a "Goodbye" AOL sound byte, wait a half hour, then disappear entirely. Houdini that ****, don't Shakespeare it

I admit I've never really paid much attention to #WallStreetBets, but the threads in there now remind me of AOL opening up their users to Usenet in the 90's. But now instead of "I can haz pr0n?!" it's "I can haz stonks?!" $GME #EternalSeptember

@CBSNewYork Twitter has become the AOL of the 21st century - if AOL lost the chatroom, & became a glorified BBS. Sadly, even with the dumbing down of the communication platform, people have not evolved mentally, or emotionally enough to speak civilly or control themselves.

@dougboneparth @AdamSinger Exactly. When you moderate your first IRC room, get duped by catfish on AOL, have an internet bf at 14... or being a blogger from a young age and creepy strangers would appear from nowhere. You learn **** quick: the internet is not your friend and social media is garbage.

@l_linguist @cobbaltt @anthrocharya When I was a teen, I met a boy in a baseball chatroom on AOL and used my lunch money to buy phone cards and call him at those booths so my mom never found out. Fond memories...
