Vicki Mallory (@vicki_mal1) reported@ThrillaRilla369 I was a mainframe systems programmer, I did not 'surf the web' back in the day, terribly insecure (worse now). I used IBMLink my entire career. We used arapnet, other early networks to research data at Berkley, UCLA, JPL. Mainframes are secure, always have been. When PC's, the web for everyone, AOL came out, we laughed and stayed with secure connections. We had email on the mainframe, profs (under VM) for word processing, long before the public knew what those things were. There is no security out in this non-ethernet world now! Https means nothing. Data mining is to be expected and reading terms and conditions should have intelligent people running from certain apps. I have never had a FB presence, nor will I. I constantly ask anyone around me, family, churches, friends, who pressure me for one app or another, "did you read their terms and conditions?" I know, Thrilla, you wanted cute answers. I'm supplying truth. X is my only social media and my husband had to talk me into it. Now, I'm a posting, replying, liking, following fool! But I won't download any other.

Ochris (@OchrisFUT) reported@FCJaymes All I had was AOL IM and very limited texts even in high school, and none of that before haha. Social media is horrible for the mind of a kid. I can't imagine growing up with it. It would have been an entirely different experience, and I doubt in a good way

Adam Charles Maxwell (@mmni99inc) reported@SMB_Attorney Are you going to take away AOL accounts from every eight and nine figure smug dummy in Kañsas too 🤔 Because that could fix a lot of problems for the earth

Nameless G (@RealTmDaddy) reportedSo on the advice from some on here, I have decided to get a "side piece". A quick search on AOL. com for codeword "maid services" and a woman will come to your house and do all the things your woman isn't there to do. For an extra fee, you can even get a *********. My wife has mentioned getting a "maid service" before, but I thought she had experimented with that in college & outgrew it. I've hired this side piece to come do her thing while I am at the airport picking my wife up. I hope my wife doesnt have some intuition that I cheated (on the house cleaning)

craig 🥐 (@toujoursyucky) reportedAs someone who experienced AOL chatrooms at 12 years old, I get that there should be restrictions and oversight. But I can’t help but feel like maybe there’s better ways to go about it than ID laws or outright bans that don’t consider whether or not a site is 100% adult-oriented.

Bill Pratt (@draglist) reportedNever used AOL but everything else. Yup.

Terry Wilson (@HookOrNeedles) reported@lady_valor_07 @Yahoo @MSN AOL and dail up - refuse to call it the good old days but it was something. You knew that it was the beginning, but you didn't know of what. Could never have foreseen the internet in 2026 that is for sure.
