@MargaretAUGrad NOT. *******. TRUE. Stop spreading hoax news stories. It's not helping. Twitter's child abuse problem isn't so much for Twitter's personal pleasure as it's just good for business. This has been a problem since AOL chatrooms

@nixcraft Joined AOL in 1994. Couldn't access the web, but could use Archie, Gopher, WAIS, and USENET. The next year, I upgraded to Windows 95, and used a local service called Intellinet. Dial-up went bye-bye in 1998. DSL that used USB networking. I had to buy a card for my Pentium 90.

@DangoMint I had someone who I used to RP on AOL with when I was 14 literally stalk down my IRL information 24 years later. They used my e-mail addresses from back then and my IRL name from me sending them a birthday card to find ALL sorts of my current information (and some outdated info).

  • LondonWater LondonWater (@LondonWater) reported

and before I send it out to aol, I hit update password on my iPhone. I click send. Aol says it’s not the right password. I call support, they try to sell me some aol service for $5 a month… repeatedly. I try to explain that I’m just trying to get to the page to reset my password

  • BrucePendragon R. A. Harris (@BrucePendragon) reported

@mmpadellan The guy who just spent half a tweet typing out "Bwahaha" in all caps, like a 12 year old in a '90's AOL chatroom imitating Dr. Robotnik, is talking about "deranged lunatics." Probably too stupid to see the irony as well.

  • happyferretE Mark Bauermeister 🇩🇪 (@happyferretE) reported

@Snowden Curious. Last Christmas the FBI was in my email and made it very obvious (I received an email from AOL support saying there had been a login with an IP near Norfolk) Is that usually how they operate? Do they want people to know?

  • zeelurker1 Abby Normal (@zeelurker1) reported

@wanyeburkett @WSJ I think difficulty cancellation subscriptions is a media industry model that aol was notorious for back in the day after they were too slow pivoting to dsl. I've heard SF Chronicle is just as bad about allowing customers to cancel subscriptions.

  • Spirit_Hindutva Spirit of Hindutva 🇷🇺 🇮🇳 🚩 (@Spirit_Hindutva) reported

@buddhimedia Two problems - Hindus have the same source books. Can a Dharmic rival rewrite the Vedas like Luther did with the Bible? In any case what you imply has already happened. ISCKON, Arya Samaj, Isha, AoL, etc etc plenty. However, none have a formal conversion program except ISKCON/AS

  • MemoryDoc Jason Cohen (@MemoryDoc) reported

@OrangeFreddyG That's a lie. AOL never connected that quickly

  • ChinaRickell China Rickell (@ChinaRickell) reported from Spring, Texas
