@netz0com @Scott4WA8 @yoyoel All websites are publishers. "Platform" doesn't exist in Section 230 Zeran v. AOL "Lawsuits seeking to hold a service liable for its exercise of a publisher's traditional editorial functions – such as deciding whether to publish, withdraw, postpone or alter content – are barred"

@TheStalwart As a business guy at AOL this was my view and frustration when presented with long dev lead times, I never understood it until someone wisely told me “nine women can’t have a baby in a month”

  • The_Pale_H0rse The_Pale_H0rse☭ (@The_Pale_H0rse) reported

**** twitter. Take me back to AOL chatrooms, and away messages.

  • HalfDadMisfit HalfDad HalfMisfit (@HalfDadMisfit) reported

If people pay the $8/month subscription, do you think Elon will make it as easy to cancel the subscription as it was to cancel AOL?

  • evanwaters Evan Waters Has Risen From The Grave (@evanwaters) reported

I still have my AOL address, I ain't closing down. Will probably tweet less.

  • dannyboy7796 Daniel Jones (@dannyboy7796) reported

@il0venostalgia I remember my first ISP being AOL (I know, I didn't stop with them long!) and them not recognising my K56Flex (it needed a V.90 IIRC) modem as being 56K, with it only operating at 33.6. Not that their support chat people would believe that though....

  • themutedrobot Arturo (@themutedrobot) reported

@IJasonAlexander We all paid for AOL chat rooms in the late 90s early 2000s by paying your ISP(Internet service provider) Twitter is evolving and will have growing pains like the early days of dial up. I care where Twitter is heading. That’s why I’m here.

  • msbellows M.S. Bellows, Jr. (@msbellows) reported

@pastordan @tai_nugget The problem is, AOL was bought by Yahoo. There was no larger purpose, and there were plenty of equally efficient alternatives. That's not the case with twitter, which is why we need to organize to take it over at the fire sale.

  • GuardianMC Guardian (@GuardianMC) reported

On one hand, yeah, we'll all go on to the next thing if/when Elon either burns this site down after getting dunked on too many times or turns it into TwitChan. Did it with AOL, forums, myspace, lj, g+, fb, etc. On the other, I'm not in remotely the same place I was then.
