astrosteve (@astrosteve) reportedFun fact: My computer was so close to being able to not run the original EQ well that if I had anything else running, it would stutter and freeze up. When I had to use AOL for about 2 months, this was a problem because the AOL client had to be running and made EQ stutter.

Kristinn Sævar Magnússon (@kristinnsms) reportedThe model: buy unloved internet assets, rebuild the technology, centralise the infrastructure, cut the cost base, keep the cash. More than 50 acquisitions since 2013, and they have never sold a business. Evernote. WeTransfer. Vimeo. Meetup. Brightcove. Eventbrite. AOL.

Vitruvius Republic 🇺🇸 (@realMAG1775) reportedNew research just dropped: CSS in emails is a silent bomb. Webmail clients try to sanitize styles so they’re “safe.” Researchers at PortSwigger just showed how those sanitizers can be broken, letting attackers steal login tokens, hijack clicks inside Outlook, track opens, and even pull off attacks with zero JavaScript. Gmail, Outlook, Fastmail, ProtonMail, Yahoo, AOL all in the firing line.

kurkosdr (@kurkosdr) reported@heyraven_io @WildComputers How much does the creation of a single tiny hat cost you in USD? How many of your users are paying for the service? You are the equivalent of AOL giving dial-up minutes at a loss in the name of "growth" or non-viable dot-coms burning tons of VC capital in the name of "growth".

TheArtisReport (@GrandaddySpeak1) reportedIt’s 2026. You know you your Internet service sucks when you had a better Internet connection during the old AOL days. And it didn’t cost as much then, either.
