@achornback Kids these days. They will never know what it’s like to get a job through an AOL chat, that leads to an ICQ based interview, that leads to being invited to an IRC server so you can prove yourself over the weekend, before finally talking to HR and getting pay onboarded on Monday.

@BarsideChatsPod Wait?! Does that mean Tearean steel is scrap from a naval yard in the AoL and the alloy they used maintains its properties despite losing their original heat treat?

@JeffKrisko I’ve been around since before AOL & just like the real world there’s a cesspool of junk, & every effort to fix it either fails or results in creating a new cesspool. Just gotta find the right spot & vibe, because we only get to do all of this once (YOLO BRO 😎 👌🏼 or something).

You’ve Got Mail will always be *great*, and as time passes… maybe even more so? The idea of logging onto the internet vs constantly having that access via a phone, etc is so quaint. And romantic! Like the AOL login tune almost made me cry a little.

@hacks4pancakes I know for sure one of the guys down the hall was running a CC scam on AOL and got caught. I was really pissed when I found out because I thought about all the people having to get reissued cards. I think that is why I tried to stay out of infosec (too vengeful?)

@hacks4pancakes @Dm3k_sec @neurovagrant I got my dad's AOL account suspended with a punter that exploited a buffer overflow that had since been patched. So not only did I get in trouble, it didn't even work!
