Reflecting on the people still accidentally paying for AOL (last estimate I saw was 2M people in 2017, down from 2.2M in 2015) I’m shocked— Not at the unethical behavior on display, I’m pretty used to that Who are these people who haven’t lost that credit card in over a decade?

And I never knew what the "deal" with the anti AOL contingent was OTHER than there was an alternative to AOL that at least person vouched for. Because in order to ask you had to know more than I did.

@seanorr if you have the hardware, I recommend checking out the PS2 game. Game sucks. BUT. In the same way the flip phones, AOL chat rooms, etc make the show a period piece, the mediocrity of the game highlights the shows dark humor about the decaying American Dream

@julia_bergeron I think that Aol has nice mail service. For mails I like it more than Gmail. First I was thinking of using Yahoo but it doesn't quite look as great to me and I wanted to support Aol even though they are both owned by Verizon media.

Still haunted by the fact that 21 years ago when my family first got AOL and you had to call to have someone set up your username, I forced my dad to spell out ‘babychickaroo12’ to a customer service rep.
