Years later, folks started using dial-up internet service after getting AOL cd's in the mail. Then we graduated to DSL and thought the future is here! It's funny looking back at it all.

Rakesh Agrawal (@RakeshSFNYC) reportedMapquest holding line on Lake Ontario. I agree, but no doubt it is just a marketing stunt to remind us they exist. I was at AOL when Google Maps launched. The head of Mapquest would send out emails every time they launched a feature saying people would never use Google.

Jeff Bohren (@JeffBohren) reported@brockpierson If you had AOL or CompuServe, you had to connect with a modem. At some point PCs shipped with integrated modems, but yes, I rocked one of those bad boys as well.

I would bring a small notepad and pencil, then sit in Walden Books and write down things I had to do where I was stuck when I couldn't afford the guide. And as far as Gamefaqs is concerned, I don't think I knew that existed till like 1998 or 1999. It's not like we had social media to talk about different websites, I had to search using AOL keywords.
