Oh yes, and back in the waaaay old days (like 1994) internet services (or their closed-circuit predecessors like Prodigy, AOL, and Compuserve) charged BY THe HOUR for service. Think about how many people would stay off the internet if that were the truth today!

Whoever has taken an ‘AOL’ route into this heaven get off it immediately. There are no shortcuts. That is for you! Do social service the normal way. Do not remain misinformed. Puns aren’t intended to establish a new law of nature. You play GOD, you destroy the world.

While I'm never impressed with spam email, I'm even less impressed with spam email touting app development when said spam email comes from an AOL account. #SMDH

@txvoodoo Probably the same way that AOL stayed profitable even after mailing everyone in the US like 20 CDs a year and making 10 billion copies ... oh wait, bad example.

@caraghpoh wow, i never knew this??? relatedly: I just learned last night that the producers of 1998's "you've got mail" originally we're gonna call it "you have mail" bc they assumed AOL bad trademarked the former. when some dude found out they hadn't, they changed the name. anyway, thanks

@BullyEsq Problem is grandma used an AOL disk just fine, but entire dev camps are arguing about how to scale something they're experts in. This cartoon will only make sense when nana can send BTC to Walgreens.

@robmbaker I never had AOL. I first got email through my university. I remember my grandmother only using email at the library, never getting Internet at home.
