@NaniWaialeale @bobcesca_go @elonmusk I’ve been online since it was available in the days of compuserve and aol and back then every chat room/discussion board was moderated. If you were rude you’d get kicked out or given time out. You also had to be a real person.

@joshtpm @schwarz We will look back and see this is as stupid as the AOL/Time Warner merger and that Disney $5000 for two nights Star Wars LARPing experience.

Deleting my account because I guess that’s what everyone is doing to support Hollywood? You’ll find me on both Prodigy and AOL. Search “Patty O’Chair.”@elonmusk

"In 2009, the original CompuServe service running on these machines finally ceased operation. 5 years later the remains of CompuServe fell into the hands of Verizon with the acquisition of AOL. The SC-40s were now destined for the dumpster."

Working at AOL in its formative years taught me a very important lesson: no digital social network is ever too big to fail, and when they do fail, it happens quickly and people who aren’t investors in it dont really care. They REALLY quickly move on.

@NoShirtFlipFlop @JoshHillBttm I never used AOL because I wasn’t of age then 🤭 But we did use that for internet for like, maybe a good year or two. I ended up using AIM all throughout middle and high school though. MSN sometimes as well. as far as the apps go, I used Jack’d and BoyAhoy in college for dates.
