@purlpetrograd the problem with AoL, for me, is while it was gorgeous and had oodles of great side characters (Liuying!!!), the fact they cast LYX as the alleged villain/second lead made it very hard for me to be like "yeah he didn't deserve everything he ever wanted, including violence"

@iliketeslas The other major difference in that it was obviously stupid at the time. Young ppl knew it (Elon sold!) AOL for e.g. was a dumb business and time-limited: dialup, Yahoo dumb didn’t see google, Worldcom scandal, cisco (switches<>guap), pets & boo dumb, amazon$$$

@VeryBadLlama Reminds me of the early AOL days when people called to complain their sounds weren’t working. They would INSIST it was the service’s fault. Inevitably it was because their speakers were off (or not connected to the computer). Sigh.

@ThePerezHilton Jeeze...Kids are stupid today. Imagine us at 16 with Apple phones and 5g, when I was 16 I had AOL and dial up and chatting in rooms like Portland 455 haha
